TRUMBULL, Conn.-The Fairfield University men's tennis team (1-4) picked up the squad's first dual match win of the 2026 season on Sunday evening with an impressive 6-1 triumph over Hofstra University (0-4) at the Tennis Club of Trumbull.
"It's nice to get our first win of the spring, we played well today and we look forward to building on it," said Head Coach Jeff Bricker.
After splitting the first two doubles matches, the Stags earned the important first point of the match when the duo of Luca Benaibbouche and Pol Otin picked up a 6-4 victory in the number three slot.
Fairfield's other doubles win on Sunday came off the strings of the tandem of Kostas Kollias and Kacper Krolikowski who posted a 6-1 win at number one doubles.
The team has now earned the doubles point in four consecutive matches.
Fairfield wrapped up the victory over the Pride by winning five singles matches in straight sets.
Kacper Krolikowski took a 6-3, 6-2 win over Hofstra's Dominic Anderson at number one singles.
Calum Jessett captured a 6-4, 7-6 triumph in the second position, and Pol Otin topped his opponent from the Pride at number three singles by identical 6-3 set scores.
Kostas Kollias at number four and Domagoj Stabek at number five won their matches by 6-4, 6-2 and 6-3, 6-4 scores respectively.
The Stags will return to action on Friday, February 27 when they open a two-match weekend at Yale University beginning with tilt versus Penn State followed by clash against the host Bulldogs on Saturday, February 28. Both matches are slated to begin at 5:00 p.m.
