FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving programs were selected first in the 2026-27 Metro Conference Coaches' Poll. The men's team garnered eight of the nine first-place votes while the women's squad collected 10 of the 12 top votes from the coaches.
The men's poll saw the Stags secured 80 points based on those first-place votes, 12 points better than runner-up Marist University's 68 points. Niagara was a close third with 65 points while Iona (56 points) rounded out the top four spots. The Gaels also received the remaining first-place vote.
Rider University filled the fifth spot in the rankings by gathering 46 points, followed by Mount St. Mary's (36 points), Canisius University (25 points), Saint Peter's University (17 points), and Manhattan University (12 points).
The women's poll put Fairfield in the top spot based on its 142 points which was mostly comprised by the first-place votes. Marist picked up the second spot in the poll with 129 points while Niagara (124 points) and Sacred Heart (105 points) comprised the top four. Marist and Niagara also were awarded one first-place vote in the selections.
Iona took the fifth spot in the poll based on its 98 points, followed by Mount St. Mary's (83 points), Rider University (64 points), Canisius University (63 points), Siena University (51 points), Merrimack College (34 points), Saint Peter's University (22 points), and Manhattan University (21 points).
The Fairfield University swimming and diving programs opened their 2026-27 season with first-place finishes in the Fairfield Invitational last weekend and now set their focus on the dual meet portion of their schedule. The Stags will travel to Bryant University for an October 9 meet with swimming starting at 5 pm and the diving beginning at 7 pm on the Brown University campus.
