FAIRFIELD, Conn. –
Evan Chomow, a sophomore goalkeeper with the Fairfield University men's soccer team, garnered the Metro Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his play in a pair of games last week.
Chomow picked up a pair of shutouts in two Metro Conference matches as the Stags defeated Saint Peter's University by a 4-0 score and followed up with a 3-0 win over Manhattan University.
He finished the week with seven saves overall after facing 16 shots over the two matches. The goalkeeper opened with five saves in the team's win over Saint Peter's and followed up with two more stops in the Manhattan victory.
For the season, the sophomore ranks second in the Metro Conference with his .780 save percentage and 1.14 goals against average. He has posted 32 saves over his eight starts for four saves per game which ranks fifth among the conference goalkeepers. He has surrendered one goal or less in each of his last four outings.

Krystian Witkowski, enters this week with a 5-1-2 overall record and a 3-0 Metro mark. The Stags will play both of the other unbeaten teams in conference play this week, beginning with a Wednesday matinee at Quinnipiac University and ending with a Saturday afternoon match up at Mount St. Mary's.
