EDISON, N.J. – Fairfield University Women's Basketball junior road runner
Meghan Andersen was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week, presented by the Air Force Reserves. Andersen led the Stags in a 3-0 week with a team-high 22.3 points per game while connecting on 53 percent of her 3-point shots. Andersen earns her second Player of the Week award this season and the sixth by a Stag this year.
"Meg's efficiency was awesome this week. She let the game come to her, played at her own pace, and her teammates hooked her up for great looks all week long," Head Coach
Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "She works incredibly hard on her game outside of practice and I'm so happy to see her effort pay off!"
Andersen notched double-figures in all three games last week, including posting a team-high 30 points against Niagara and 19 versus Canisius. Her 30-point performance against the Purple Eagles was the third time this season she has reached the 30-point marker. She drained six of her 11 3-point attempts in the victory, helping the Stags to their largest margin of victory against a Division I opponent in program history.
Andersen has now reached double-figures in scoring in 11-straight games and 13 times out of her 14 outings. For her career, she moved to sixth on the program's all-time 3-point field goal mark with 174 made. She also ranks 19th with 1,252 career points.
Andersen has overtaken the conference-lead with 18.9 points per game which also stands in the top-40 in the country. She also ranks third in the MAAC and 30th in Division I with 2.9 made triples per game.
This is Andersen's fifth career MAAC Player of the Week award.
Andersen and the Stags, who are 5-0 in the conference, will hit the road to face Saint Peter's on Thursday night at 6pm.
