FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team is set for a first-place showdown with in-state rivals Quinnipiac on Thursday night at 7pm at Leo D. Mahoney Arena. The game featuring two MAAC unbeatens will air live on ESPNU.
Both the Stags and Quinnipiac will enter the game with identical 11-0 conference records, tying them for first-place in the MAAC standings. Fairfield will be riding a 13-game winning streak into the contest, which is tied for the fourth-longest in Division I.
That success has been amplified at home as the Stags have tied a program-record with 21-straight victories in their home arena, a number that ranks fourth in the country.
Fairfield's efficient offense has been the key to their success, with Fairfield leading the MAAC in: scoring (78.4 points), 3-pointers (12.5), 3-point percentage (.387), field goal percentage (.461), and assists (18.3).
The Stags' 12.5 made 3-pointers per game currently lead all of Division I and their .387 long-range shooting percentage places fifth.
Kaety L'Amoreaux has been at the top of that offensive success, leading the entire conference in: points (19.9), field goal percentage (.508), 3-pt percentage (.425), free throw percentage (.909), and assists (4.4). She has been named the MAAC Player of the Week five times while receiving three All-Met Player of the Week awards.
Graduate student guard
Janelle Brown will also make history in the game, appearing in her 130th career game, setting a new program record.
Head Coach
Carly Thibault-DuDonis was one of 10 head coaches in the country named to the Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Watch List. It is the third-straight season she has received recognition to the list. In her fourth season, she is 12th among all active head coaches with a .784 winning percentage.
Quinnipiac enters with a 16-4 overall record and a perfect 11-0 mark in MAAC play. Jackie Grisdale is the team leader with a 13.7 scoring average while Sydney Ryan paces the team with 6.5 rebounds per game.
