Schatzlein ’16 Inducted into Connecticut Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame

FAIRFIELD, Conn­. – Fairfield University Women's Basketball alumna Kristin Schatzlein was inducted into the Connecticut Women's Basketball Hall of Fame earlier this year, celebrating her collegiate success with Fairfield and her high school prowess at Tolland. Schatzlein scored 1,150 points for the Stags while helping them to three postseason appearances in the Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI).
 
Nicknamed 'Schatz,' Schatzlein became one of the best long-range shooters in school history and still ranks third in program history with 218 3-pointers and fifth with a .351 career 3-point shooting percentage.
 
She was a three-time All-MAAC selection in her four years with the Stags, earning All-MAAC First Team recognition her senior season, Third Team honors her junior year, and a spot on the MAAC All-Rookie team in 2013. She was the first Fairfield guard in eight years to earn First Team honors after averaging 11.3 points per game and connecting on 62 3-pointers. She also maintained a streak of 150-straight game minutes without committing a turnover, which was the longest streak in the country.
 
She finished her Fairfield career with 1,150 points, 218 made 3-pointers, and 295 assists in 125 career games. She helped the Stags to three appearances in the national postseason WBI tournament during her stay.
 
Schatzlein was a graduate of Tolland High School in 2012, after earning the Connecticut Gatorade Girls' Basketball Player of the Year as a senior.
 
She finished her high school career as the school's leading scorer, with 1,717 points. She was also a two-time all-state selection and a four-time all-league selection, averaging 18.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.2 steals per game as a senior to lead the Eagles to a 24-4 record and a Class M state championship appearance.
