CLEVELAND, Ohio – Fairfield University Women's Basketball Road Runner
Emina Selimovic was named a Division I-AAA Athletics Director Association (ADA) Scholar Athlete for the second time in her career. Selimovic completed her undergraduate degree in just three years while maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average and earning the university's Bellarmine medal. On the court, she was also a back-to-back All-MAAC Third Team selection and helped the Stags to two MAAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.
"Emina truly is the epitome of a student-athlete," Head Coach
Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "She puts so much effort into everything that she does and leaves no stone unturned. While she is incredibly intelligent, she pairs that with an unmatched work-ethic that allows her to be successful both on the court and in the classroom. We are all so proud of her."
Selimovic experienced success on and off the court during her two seasons with the Stags. In the classroom, she earned her degree in economics in just three years while earning a 4.0 GPA. She was honored with the university's Bellarmine medal which is given to the student with the highest GPA in the graduating class. She was also a two-time selection to the MAAC All-Academic team and the CSC Academic All-District squad.
On the basketball court, Selimovic netted over 600 points in her two seasons with Fairfield while helping the squad to two-straight MAAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships. During her stay, the Stags gained votes in the Associated Press (AP) Top-25 poll in both seasons and totaled a 45-1 record against MAAC opponents. She also helped guide the Stags to two-straight NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in program history. She was named to the All-MAAC Third Team in back-to-back seasons and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team in 2024.
Selimovic was one of just 10 players nationally selected to the list as she earned her second career honor. Each of the nominees is required to maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (4.00 scale) in undergraduate study and have been a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletics credentials. To be eligible for nomination to the Scholar-Athlete Team, individuals must have reached junior academic standing at their respective institution.
