FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team has announced the hiring of Dominic Lewis as the program's new graduate assistant for the 2025-26 season. Lewis will be graduating from Niagara University where he served as the women's basketball's associate head manager for the past three seasons. Lewis will be joining a Fairfield program that has cemented themselves as one of the premiere mid-majors in the country after two-straight MAAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.
"I am thrilled to add Dom to our Stag family as he brings an energy and love for the game that perfectly matches our staff," Head Coach
Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "He is a go-getter and finds ways to get things done. He was thoroughly professional not only in his role on the Niagara Women's Basketball Staff but throughout the interview process. I feel so blessed to have kept our staff together as we head into our fourth season at Fairfield, and Dom will add tremendous value to an already amazing group of people!"
"Having this opportunity to be a part of this program is a huge blessing," Lewis said. "Words can't even express my gratitude towards the staff for trusting me with this position. I cannot wait to do great things alongside this team over the next two years!"
Lewis was the associate head manager and practice player for a Niagara women's basketball program that advanced to the MAAC Championship game in 2023-24 after setting the program record with 21 wins. The Purple Eagles also garnered a victory in the WNIT, the program's first-ever postseason win.
As a practice player, he assisted with player development on the court helping Niagara to be one of the most feared defensive teams in the conference, leading the nation in steals while finishing second in turnover margin.
In his first season as the team manager, the Purple Eagles tallied 16 conference wins, setting a new program single-season record while enjoying their best MAAC finish in over 30 years. They also clinched a spot in the WNIT, the program's first-ever appearance in a national tournament.
Aside from his role as the women's basketball team manager, Lewis also served as the team president for the Niagara Club Basketball team and selected to the inaugural Sabres Scholar Program where students receive special access and mentorship from the leadership team with the Sabres, LECOM Harborcenter, and other sport and hospitality venues in Western New York.
Lewis joins a Fairfield team coming off back-to-back MAAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances while also receiving votes in the Associated Press (AP) Top-25 national poll in both seasons.
