MAAC Champion Stags Headed West for NCAA Reno Regional

Fairfield is competing in its first-ever NCAA Regional

INDIANAPOLIS – Fairfield University Men's Golf has been selected for the NCAA Reno Regional in at Montrêux Golf & Country Club in Reno, Nev. The MAAC Champion Stags will tee off in their first-ever NCAA regional as a team on May 12-14.

Fairfield heads to Reno after winning the MAAC Championship for the first time since 1997. The Stags won the title by two shots over Sacred Heart at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course, outgunning the Pioneers by seven stokes on Friday and two more on Saturday to overcome a mid-pack showing in Round 1. Tadgh Burke earned the McLeod Trophy as the individual MAAC Champion.

Fairfield's lineup includes All-MAAC First Team honorees Peter Crowe and Colin Summers as well as All-MAAC Second Team selections Burke and Rasmus Ditzinger. Burke was also named the MAAC Rookie of the Year following his McLeod Trophy win. Director of Fairfield Golf Doug Holub is the MAAC Men's Golf Coach of the Year for the second time in his career; Holub is also a three-time MAAC Coach of the Year as the leader of the Fairfield women's program.
 
The full field in Reno includes Texas, ACC Champion Virginia, Alabama, Duke, Mississippi State, BYU, San Diego, Santa Clara, California, Grand Canyon, Conference USA Champion Sam Houston, SoCon Champion East Tennessee State and Atlantic Sun Champion Central Arkansas.

The top five teams on the leaderboard after 54 holes, as well as the top finishing individual not a part of those teams, will advance to the NCAA National Championship on May 23-28 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
 
The Stags were previously represented in NCAA competition by individual selections Steve Burak (2013), Alex Taylor (2014) and Killian McGinley (2023), all of whom earned a postseason berth as the individual MAAC Champion.
 
More information on the Stags' upcoming appearance at the NCAA Reno Regional will be announced as it is finalized.
