LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – With a final round score of 287 (-1), Fairfield University Men's Golf surged to the top of the leaderboard to win the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship for the first time since 1997. The Stags were led by Tadgh Burke, who brought home the McLeod Trophy as the individual MAAC Champion.
 
Fairfield won the title by two strokes over Sacred Heart, outgunning the Pioneers by seven stokes on Friday and two more on Saturday to overcome a mid-pack showing in Round 1. The Stags only previous MAAC Championship as a team came in 1997.
 
Burke finished with a 210 (-6) to beat The Mount's Aaron Sorkin by one stroke. The rookie's best round was his first with a 67 on Thursday, and he never relinquished that lead for the remainder of the tournament. Burke is the seventh Stag to hoist the McLeod Trophy as individual MAAC Champion and the second in three years (Killian McGinley, 2023). Including Maria Beltran for the Fairfield women last season, a Stag has won the honor in three consecutive years.
 
Colin Summers added an even-par weekend of 216 to finish 11th in his final MAAC Championship, helping propel Fairfield to the team crown with a final round 68. Peter Crowe tied for 14th with a 219 (+3), Chase Millar added a 22nd place showing (224, +8) and Rasmus Ditzinger finished 25th (225, +9) as all five Stags were among the top 25 of the 65-golfer field.
 
Fairfield Men's Golf will participate in the 2025 NCAA Championship as a team for the first time. The regional fields will be announced on Wednesday, April 30 at 1 p.m. live on the Golf Channel.
