EDISON, N.J. – After scoring 35 points in Saturday's "must win" game for Fairfield University Men's Basketball, Prophet Johnson has been named the final MAAC Player of the Week for the 2024-25 regular season. Johnson averaged 27.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in the two-game week for the Stags.
 
On Saturday, Johnson netted a career-best 35 points on 15-for-23 shooting and corralled 12 rebounds to guide the Stags past MAAC Regular Season Champion Quinnipiac and into the 2025 MAAC Championship. Johnson's eighth double-double of the season marks the most by a Stag since 2022-23, when Supreme Cook also recorded eight.
 
Thirty-five points are the most scored by a MAAC player this season and the most since Brycen Goodine dropped 37 – also on Senior Night – in a home win over Canisius to close out the 2023-24 home slate.
 
Earlier in the week, Johnson had 20 points and nine rebounds at Siena, engineering a 17-point comeback that ultimately came up just short against the Saints.
 
Johnson shot .706 from the field (24-for-34) for the week en route to 27.5 points per contest. He has scored 20 or more points in four straight games – the first Stag to do so since Hall of Famer Derek Needham '13 during a four-game stretch during his standout rookie campaign of 2009-10.
 
The Stags enter the postseason at 12-19 overall and 8-12 in the MAAC. Fairfield secured the 10th seed in the MAAC Championship and will play seventh-seeded Sacred Heart on Tuesday, March 11 at 8:30 p.m.
 
The winner will advance to challenge second-seeded Merrimack on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in the quarterfinal round.
