FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse – one of four remaining unbeaten teams in Division I – entered the USILA Coaches' Poll this week at #17 in the nation. The Stags also moved up one spot to #17 in the
Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and remained at #20 in the USA Lacrosse Top 20.
Fairfield defeated Providence, 15-7, on Saturday afternoon at Rafferty Stadium to improve to 5-0 on the season. In the process, the Stags earned a national ranking in the USILA Poll for the first time since slotting at #20 in the preseason edition of the 2017 rankings. Fairfield's #17 position is its best in the coaches' poll since ranking #14 in the penultimate poll of the 2014 campaign. The Stags' best ever national ranking is #11, also achieved in 2014.
The Stags' 5-0 start is their best since starting the 2012 season with seven consecutive wins. Fairfield looks to keep its streak alive this Tuesday, March 4 with a 4 p.m. visit to St. John's.
