Stags Clipped Late at Drexel

Lampron and Gilbert each net a hat trick for the Stags

PHILADELPHIA – After eight ties in Saturday's CAA clash featuring Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse and Drexel, the host Dragons made the last push of the day of claim a 13-11 decision. Devin Lampron and Jake Gilbert each recorded a hat trick for the Stags.

With the loss, the Stags stand at 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the CAA. Drexel improved to 6-3 on the season and 2-0 in league action. After two weeks of CAA play, only Drexel and Towson (1-0) stand unbeaten in the conference standings.
 
Lampron added an assist to his hat trick to finish the day with four points. To go along with Gilbert's three goals, Jeremiah Wade added two and an assist. Will Consoli and KJ Delane each chipped in one goal and one assist, and Justin Brown netted one goal.
 
The Stags stayed on the attack with a 15-13 faceoff edge. Daniel Davis went 14-for-24 with nine ground balls off the restart, and Jonathan Lewis pitched in one win in relief.
 
All-America defenseman Julian Radossich added to his CAA-leading total with three caused turnovers and collected six ground balls. Eli Adams returned to the starting close defense unit and posted three caused turnovers. In the defensive midfield, Jason LaMay Jr. had two caused turnovers and three ground balls, Andrew Kasten nabbed three ground balls, and LSM Bryce Hrubiec had four caused balls and a caused turnover.
 
Landon Whitney made his first 60-minute appearance of the season protecting the Fairfield cage, finishing with eight saves.
 
Drexel was led by three goals from Witt Crawford, including the tallies that flipped a 10-9 Fairfield lead into an 11-10 Dragons' advantage that they would not relinquish. Crawford also doled out three assists. Conor Hooley and Teddy Luthy each contributed a hat trick for Drexel.
 
Brendan Donnelly made 12 saves in the home goal.
 
Fairfield Men's Lacrosse returns to action and returns to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium next Saturday, March 28, to host Stony Brook at 3:30 p.m. The contest is the backend of a Fairfield Lacrosse doubleheader that will also feature the Stags' women's lacrosse team hosting Canisius at noon.
