ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The MAAC Regular Season Champions, Fairfield University Women's Basketball team had four honorees on the All-MAAC Postseason teams with
Meghan Andersen leading the group with her second-straight First Team selection.
Kaety L'Amoreaux was voted to the All-MAAC Second Team,
Emina Selimovic picked up Third Team honors, and
Cyanne Coe rounded out the group with a spot on the All-Rookie squad.
The quartet of Stags combined for 60 percent of the team's points with Fairfield's leading scorer Andersen leading the group at an even 15.0 points per contest. Andersen becomes the 12th Stag all-time to earn a pair of First Team honors and the first to do so in her freshman and sophomore seasons. She led the Stags in scoring for the second-straight season while reaching double-figures in scoring 21 times. She ranks in the top-six in the MAAC in five different categories including shooting a league-best .491 from the field, among NCAA qualifiers. She also places fourth in the MAAC in: 3-point percentage (.377), 3-pointers per game (2.1), and blocks per game (1.4).
"After last season, it would have been really easy for Meg to just rest on her laurels," Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "What makes her special, though, is that she continued to work on her game and took huge steps forward on the defensive end especially. She added to her arsenal of offensive skills, including her ball handling, and has established herself as one of the best players in this league."
L'Amoreaux was one of the many Stags who stepped up after the injury of
Janelle Brown and carried the load in the point guard position. She has continuously filled out the stat sheet and in MAAC games is averaging 12.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. One of the most-pesky defenders in the conference, L'Amoreaux has tallied three or more steals in 11 MAAC games. She ranks fifth in the MAAC in assists (4.2) and third in steals (2.0) per game.
"Kaety has always been a gifted scorer and while she took massive steps forward in her efficiency, she also shown that she's a playmaking point guard with her passing ability," Coach Carly said. "What makes Kaety truly invaluable is her competitive spirit and ability to impact the game on both ends as a scrappy and disciplined defender."
Selimovic earned her second-straight appearance on the All-MAAC Third Team after finishing second on the team with 4.3 rebounds and tallying a .508 field goal percentage. She has reached double-figures in points in 12 MAAC games while averaging 12.5 and shooting 57 percent over her last six contests.
"Emina has been such a steady, consistent presence for us all season long and I'm glad to see her rewarded for that," Coach Carly said. "She's someone who remains even keeled on and off the court, and she shows up in big moments showcasing her versatility and reliability."
Along with the four All-MAAC honors six Stags were named to the All-Academic team with Selimovic, Andersen, L'Amoreaux,
Lauren Beach,
Izabela Nicoletti Leite, and
Casey Prior all maintain a 3.2 GPA over their time at Fairfield.
"I am so proud of Iza, Emina, Lauren, Casey, Meg, and Kaety for their hard work on and off the court this season," Coach Carly said.
"Our student-athletes place a premium on the education they get at Fairfield and are incredibly dedicated to their studies. In a world where the value of the education has become less of a priority in where recruits choose to go to college, I love that our women value their academic experience here at Fairfield."
The Stags, who earned the top-seed in the MAAC Championships, will begin their quest for the program's sixth MAAC Tournament Title and their second-straight in a Quarterfinal game on Wednesday at noon at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
