Stags Sweep MAAC Weekly Awards

EDISON, N.J. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team claimed both of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Weekly awards as Kaety L'Amoreaux earned her third – and second-straight – MAAC Player of the Week honor and Christina Pham tallied the Rookie of the Week accolade for the first time in her career. The duo led the Stags in a 3-point shooting barrage over the weekend, combining for 16 made 3-pointers on a 53 percent shooting clip.

L'Amoreaux was Fairfield's top scorer over the weekend, averaging 27.0 points highlighted by a career-high 31-point outburst in the win over Richmond. The junior once again filled out the stat sheet as she also led the team with 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals while dishing out 3.0 assists per contest. She shot 63 percent from the floor and 53 percent from behind the arc.

With her scoring performance, L'Amoreaux has overtaken the conference lead with 19.5 points per game, a number that ranks 27th in the country. She also leads the MAAC with 4.6 assists and 2.6 steals per game.

"Kaety has not only continued to elevate her play but her leadership of our team," Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "She has been setting the standard for our program all summer and fall, and her competitive fire permeates our team. It is no surprise to see her put up numbers across the board in scoring, rebounds, assists and steals because she brings that consistency to practice every day. I'm proud to coach her."

Pham matched L'Amoreaux with eight combined 3-pointers and a .530 shooting percentage over the weekend finishing with 12.0 points per game. Her performance was highlighted by a career-high 18 points on six made triples.

For the season, Pham ranks in the top-25 in the nation in both 3-pointers per game (3.1) and 3-point percentage (.478). She also ranks third in both categories among all freshmen in Division I.

"Pham is the perfect fit for Shooters U!" Coach Carly said. "Her ability to shoot the ball at a high rate is something she has worked so hard to develop, and she is doing a great job getting in vision and moving off the ball to get open looks. Her confidence and poise as a freshman is impressive - this is only the beginning!"

As a team, the Stags went 1-1 over the weekend capped by a 20-point win on the road against Atlantic-10 favorites Richmond on Sunday. Fairfield combined for 32 3-pointers in the two games including a program-record 19 against the Spiders, tying for the most in Division I this season. Fairfield extended their national-best 3-point average to 13.4 per game and moved up to sixth in the country in 3-point percentage at a .410 clip.

Fairfield will return to Leo D. Mahoney Arena to host Maine and close out their non-conference slate on Friday at 7pm.
