Stags Close Out Non-Conference Slate, Hosting Maine on Friday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will wrap up their non-conference schedule when they welcome the Maine Black Bears to Leo D. Mahoney Arena on Friday at 7pm.

Fairfield wrapped up the road portion of their non-conference slate with an impressive 20-point win over Richmond, snapping the Spiders' 13-game home winning streak. Fairfield went on a 3-point shooting barrage, connecting on a program-record 19 triples, matching the most in a Division I game this season. Fairfield also reached the 90-point mark for the third time this season and the seventh time under Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis.

The Stags enter the game as one of the most prolific 3-point shooting team in the country, leading the entire nation with 13.4 3-pointers per game while ranking sixth with a .410 percentage.

Fairfield also matched a program-record with a .660 field goal percentage against Richmond, matching the exact total from a March 8, 1988 contest against Holy Cross when they also went 35-for-53 from the field.

The Stags connected on 63 percent of their 3-point attempts, going 19-for-30 from deep, the fourth-highest percentage in Fairfield history.

Kaety L'Amoreaux was at the forefront of all that success, coming off a career-high 31-point performance. L'Amoreaux was rewarded with several weekly awards, earning her first career USBWA National Player of the Week honors, the second-time a Stag has received those accolades this season. She was also named the All-Metropolitan Player of the Week and the MAAC Player of the Week accolade for the third time this year.

For the season, L'Amoreaux ranks in the top-100 in the country in five different categories including: free throw percentage (.921), points per game (19.5), 3-pointers per game (2.9), 3-point percentage (.426), and assists per game (4.6).

Christina Pham also was a key feature in the win at Richmond, tallying a career-high 18 points on 6-for-9 shooting from behind the arc. Pham is shooting .478 from deep which is tied for the second-highest among all freshmen in the country.

Richmond was the fourth team the Stags have defeated who made a national postseason last season while also defeating: Villanova, South Florida, and Lehigh.

Maine enters the game with a 3-7 overall record coming off losses to Penn and Rhode Island. Adrianna Smith is the team leader in points (18.1) and rebounds (9.0).

Fairfield will begin conference play on the road when they take on Rider on Friday, Dec. 19 at 6pm.
