NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The road to the 2025 MAAC Championship will run through Leo D. Mahoney Arena after Fairfield University Volleyball locked up top seed in the upcoming tournament with a 3-0 victory over Iona in Saturday's regular season finale. The Stags also secured sole possession of their seventh consecutive MAAC Regular Season Championship with the road sweep.
Fairfield Volleyball wrapped up the regular season at 17-1 in the MAAC as a part of a 23-5 overall mark. The Stags' four-year senior class of
Allie Elliott,
Abby Jandro, and
Maya Walker earned its 67th MAAC regular season win this afternoon, tying the conference record established by the Fairfield class that competed from 2006-09. The current seniors' MAAC win percentage of .931 (67-5) also tied the aforementioned alumnae for the best by a class to compete in four seasons of the 18-match league schedule.
The overall win percentage record is owned by the Stags' seniors who went 36-0 in four campaigns of league play from 1997-2000.
In today's match, the Stags ran off wins of 25-18, 27-25, 25-17 to topple Iona (11-21, 6-12 MAAC) in the Gaels' season finale.
Mamie Krubally headed the attack with 14 kills on .429 hitting. Fellow right-side
Emma Bortolotti added 12 finishers at a .409 rate. Also on the pins,
Allie Elliott put down 11 kills, and
Katelyn Cook had seven.
The middle hitting duo of
Maya Walker and
Harlan Wyche rounded out the attack with five and four kills, respectively.
Zofia Sykut and
Abby Jandro engineered the Fairfield offense to a .317 team hitting percentage. The Stags finished the regular season hitting .283 overall – among the top 20 in the nation – with a .299 mark in their 18 MAAC contests. Sykut doled out 21 assists with nine digs today, and Jandro handed out 20 helpers along with six digs.
Cook led the back row with 13 digs and
Delaney Moon picked up 11 from the libero spot. At the net, Wyche had a hand in four of Fairfield's seven team blocks with Walker and Krubally each getting a piece of three.
Iona's Julia Leonardo fueled the Gaels' attack with 15 kills. Caleigh Schroeder led all players with 16 digs.
Fairfield Volleyball will begin the postseason at Mahoney Arena in the semifinal round next weekend. More details on the 2025 MAAC Championship will be announced as information is finalized by the MAAC office.
