Â
"I am so proud to see another one of our student-athletes recognized on a national level, and I couldn't be happier for Meg to earn this honor," Head Coach
Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "Behind the scenes, she has taken her game to another level - increasing her activity on both ends of the floor and making a conscious effort to leave her fingerprints all over the game. Meg has been a huge part of our program's success and I am looking forward to not only seeing her play her best basketball but be relied upon as an upperclassman and mentor to our younger players."
Â
In just two seasons, Andersen has made her impact on the program with two All-MAAC First Team selections, two All-Metropolitan honors, and the MAAC Championship MVP award.
Â
She has neared 1,000 points while draining 134 3-pointers, becoming just the second player in program history to reach 100 career long-range shots in their sophomore season.
Â
She has led the team in scoring in both of her collegiate campaigns while also finishing in the top-two in the MAAC in field goal percentage. Last season, she also finished in the top-five in the conference in: blocks, 3-pointers, and 3-point percentage.
Â
She was named the MAAC Tournament MVP in leading the Stags to their second-straight MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance with a 27-point outburst against Quinnipiac in the Championship Game.
Â
Her success has fueled Fairfield's historic run with a 59-7 overall record, the second-highest winning percentage in the country during her stay. The Stags have also posted a 45-1 record against MAAC opponents including their back-to-back MAAC titles. Fairfield's success has been recognized around the country with votes in the Top-25 polls in two-straight campaigns including votes in the USA Today Preseason Coaches Poll.
Â
Prior to this season, Andersen was unanimously voted the MAAC Preseason of the Year by the league's head coaches.
