FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Three Fairfield University swimming and diving student-athletes were rewarded for their performances last weekend as the trio earned weekly honors from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Andrew Nathe and
Katie Torrey earned their respective MAAC Swimming Rookie of the Week award while Lillian Tonole garnered the MAAC Women's Diver of the Week accolade. The award was Nathe's third rookie award this season while Torrey and Tonole captured their first weekly honor from the conference.
Nathe picked up two individual wins and a relay win in addition to swimming a fourth event in Fairfield's meet against Marist last Saturday. He secured the best time in both the 50 and the 100 free and was part of the winning 400 free relay. He also went opened the meet with the 200 medley relay, helping the Stags take second place.
Lillian Tonole swept the diving events in Fairfield's meet against Marist, taking first place in the 1 meter with 202.13 points before capturing the 3 meter event with 212.25 points.
Torrey secured two individual wins and also added a relay win in the Marist meet. She opened the day by starting off the winning 200 medley relay team as the Stags won the event. Individually, she returned to the pool to take first in the 100 back and the 200 back. Torrey also participated in the 200 IM, taking fourth place.
The Fairfield University swimming and diving teams will return to action this weekend when the programs travel to Fordham University on Saturday. The meet is scheduled for a 1 pm start.
