FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Baseball right-handed pitcher Colin McVeigh and outfielder Matt Bucciero were named to the All-ECAC Team, as announced by the division. The duo helped the Stags to their fourth-straight MAAC Regular Season Championship, a 30-win season, and an appearance in the MAAC Championship Series.
 
McVeigh became the first Stag ever to be named the MAAC Pitcher of the Year after posting a perfect 8-0 record with a 1.84 ERA in eight regular season starts in the conference. He tallied 94 strikeouts in 82.1 innings, the most by a Fairfield pitcher in a decade. He was one of the most efficient pitchers in the country, finishing second in the MAAC with a 1.11 WHIP while leading the league with a 4.48 strikeout-to-walk ratio, both ranking in the top-40 in the nation. His nine wins also tied the program's single-season record.
 
"McVeigh was our number one pitcher and a team captain," Head Coach Bill Currier said. "He worked his tail off all year to stay the number one pitcher in the conference and certainly earned this honor for his senior year."
 
Bucciero was also an All-MAAC First Team selection and was a solid presence in right field for the Stags becoming one of two players to start all 58 games. He showed his power with 15 homers and 61 RBI, both placing in the top-three in the MAAC. He tallied a career-high 15-game hitting streak in April that saw him bat .400 with seven homers and 28 RBI in 60 at-bats. He tied for the team lead with 15 multiple RBI games.
 
"Bucciero really improved his power numbers and his average as the season went," Coach Currier said. "He had a very good sophomore year."
 
The duo helped a Fairfield team earn their fourth-straight MAAC Regular Season Championship and the top-seed in the MAAC Championships. The Stags totaled 34 wins and advanced to the MAAC Championship Series for the fourth time in their last five chances.
