FAIRFIELD, Conn. –
Bailey Taylor earned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week after her performance in a three-game set against Quinnipiac University last week.
Taylor tossed two complete-game shutouts to lead the Stags to two wins in a three-game series against Quinnipiac. The senior did not allow a run in 14 innings of work including a nine-inning effort in a 1-0 win to split a doubleheader. She scattered six hits, fanned three and did not walk a batter over those nine innings.
She came back and threw a five-inning complete game in a 9-0 victory over the Bobcats, yielding three hits and striking out three without allowing any walks. For the week, she pitched 14 innings, allowing no runs, striking out six with no free passes.
For the season, Taylor currently leads the team in several pitching categories including wins (7), ERA (2.82), complete games (3), shutouts (2), and innings pitched (87.0).
The Fairfield University softball team, under Head Coach
Julie Brzezinski, will continue its 2024 campaign with four more home games this week. The Stags will play their final non-conference game of the season when they host Sacred Heart University on Wednesday, May 1 before beginning a three-game series with MAAC leader Marist College on May 3 (doubleheader) and May 4.
