LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.-With four players shooting an even par 72 on Friday, the Fairfield University men's golf team carded an even par 288 and sits in second place, three strokes behind first place Siena College (-3, 288) after the opening round of the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship taking place this weekend at Disney's Palm Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista Florida.
Junior Colin Summers, graduate students Shane DeVincenzo and Patrick McCarthy plus freshman Anthony Naples, with their 72s over the first 18 holes of the 54-hole, three-day championship, are part of an eighth-player, fifth place tie, three stroke behind day one leader Nolan Crowley of Siena who finished with a three-under par score of 69.
A total of 45 golfers are competing for the 2024 MAAC Championship in the Sunshine State.
Freshman Peter Crowe shot an opening round 79 to complete the Stags quintet of golfers on Friday.
Second round play in the 2024 MAAC Men's Golf Championship on Disney's Palm Course will begin on Saturday morning, and the event will come to a close with the final 18 holes on Sunday.
