Leach and Fields Earn All-Met Honors

Leach tabbed to the Second Team, Fields lands on Third Team

NEW YORK – Jalen Leach and Caleb Fields of Fairfield University Men's Basketball have been named All-Met, as announced on Wednesday by the Met Basketball Writers Association. Leach earned a place on the Second Team, while Fields was slated for the Third Team.
 
Leach was an All-MAAC First Team honoree – Fairfield's first since Tyler Nelson in 2017-18 – and a member of the MAAC All-Championship Team. He finished the season ranked fifth int eh MAAC with 16.2 points per game and fourth with a .488 field goal percentage. Leach also set a new Fairfield single-season record with an .895 free throw percentage, leading the MAAC and ranking 19th nationally. He was also fourth in the MAAC in steals per contest (1.8) and 11th in assists per outing at 3.0.
 
Fields adds All-Met Third Team recognition to an All-MAAC Second Team nod and a place on the MAAC All-Championship Team. Fields scored 592 points this season – sixth-most in program history – while ranking fourth in the MAAC with a team-best 16.8 points per game. Fields' 113 three-pointers are a Fairfield single-season record and the fourth-most in the nation this season. His .388 three-point percentage was tops in the MAAC among qualified shooters.
 
In only two years as a Stag, Fields racked up 931 points and ranks seventh all-time in Fairfield history with 163 career three-pointer
 
In its first season led by Head Coach Chris Casey, Fairfield Men's Basketball finished second in the MAAC regular season and won two postseason games in Atlantic City to reach the MAAC Championship Game. The Stags went on to accept an invitation to the CBI, winning two more games to reach the semifinals before falling to eventual CBI Champion Seattle. Fairfield concludes the season at 24-13, tied for the second-most wins in program history. Fairfield's .649 winning percentage in 2023-24 has only been topped by previous Stags' teams on four occasions since 1980.
