FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Baseball team will host the Saint Peter's Peacocks for a three-game Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) series starting on Friday at 3pm. The Stags enter the weekend with a 5-1 conference mark, putting them third in the league standings.
The Stags split their two midweek contests, highlighted by a six-home run performance in the win against Central Connecticut State. Fairfield is currently the leading power team in the MAAC, leading all teams with 44 home runs and a .499 slugging percentage.
Matt Bergevin was one of the Stags who homered which brought his season total to 12, tying his teammate
Ethan Hibbard for the MAAC lead.
The Fairfield slugging duo also hold the top-two spots in the MAAC in RBI.
The reigning MAAC Pitcher of the Week,
Colin McVeigh will look to build on his career performance against Canisius after an eight-inning, one-hit, and 14 strikeout performance. That helped lower the team's ERA to 5.44 the lowest in the MAAC.
Saint Peter's enters play with a 4-5 MAAC record after a three-game sweep of Manhattan. Tyler Cotton is the team's leading hitter with a .364 average and 10 homers.
The two teams will play the middle game of the series on Saturday at 1pm and conclude on Sunday at 1pm.
