HARTFORD, Conn. --- The Fairfield University rowing teams enjoyed a strong start to the fall campaign with their performances at the Head of the Riverfront this afternoon. The Stags placed entries in the open 8s and the open 4s during today's competition.
The men's 8s started the day for Fairfield as the team placed two entries in the event. The A boat finished the distance with a time of 16:16.37 to finish 17th overall in the head race. The boat consisted of Zalan Kovacs, Samuel Elliott, Anthony Tapinis, Braeden Gibbons, Grant Reteiny, Ryan Wrynn, Ean Ray, Connor Carroll and coxswain Madeline Gross. The B boat was just a few places behind their teammates, taking 20th overall by crossing the line in 16:46.37. The Fairfield shell included Eamon Tonna, Vincent DiPalo, Lanyon Henwood, Andrew Herman, Frankie DiNatale, James Penczak, Brian Peknic, Luca Tarricone, and coxswain Syke Deraffele.
On the women's side, the Stags' A boat captured eighth overall in the race by completing the course in 17:52.34. The crew included

The B boat secured the 21st slot with its time of 19:01.09 behind the efforts of

Victoria Conrad,
Grace McDonough,
Sophia Malina,
Megan Rourke, and coxswain
Alisa Tsavaris. The C boat competed to finish 31
st overall after taking the course in 20:48.65. The crew was comprised by
Alyssa Colombrita, Alex Harrington,
Lauren Hoppe,
Grace Polatsek, Cackie Martin,
Ava Bistoff,
Ainsley Hoekzema, Caity Gregitis, and coxswain Grace Tyska.
The open 4s completed Fairfield's participation in the Head of the Riverfront with two boats. The A entry enjoyed the Stags' highest finish of the day, placing third by finishing the course in 17:19.32. The boat consisted of

Fairfield University men's and women's rowing teams will return to water at the Navy Day Regatta on October 13 in Philadelphia, Pa.
