PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Fairfield University rowing teams put together several strong finishes at the Head of the Schuylkill on Saturday, highlighted by the fifth-place finish by the men's novice 4. The Stags placed nine boats in the water at the event including races in both the 8s and 4s.
The men's 4 started things off with its fifth-place run, finishing the distance in 14:23.12 behind the efforts of John Blaney, Cameron Holland, Trevor Buti, Matthew Benestad, and coxswain
Alyson Moore. The women's team put an entry in the championship 4 and finished in the middle of the 76 entries based on its time of 15:45.58. Fairfield was represented by

Alexandra Tomlinson.
The women's college novice/frosh 8 event was next on the docket and the Stags put forth a time of 15:52.57 which placed 12th overall. Fairfield was represented by Molly Cleary, Nora O'Connell, Jill Nnewman, Sasha Atencio, Milly Olch, Isabela Arteaga,
Taylor Brennan, Zoey Ames, and coxswain
Emma Sieger.Â
Fairfield saw two boats perform in the men's club championship 8 with the first boat taking 22nd based on its finish of 12:18.81. Lua Tarricone, Brian Peknick, Jack Cartnick, Andrew Herman, George Voegele, Vincent Dipalo, Eamon Tonna, and coxswain Skye Deraffele comprised the Fairfield entry. The second boat secured 38th in the standings by crossing the line in 13:11.80. James Penzack, Lanyon Henwood, Zach Siwiec, Ryan Armstrong, Owen Marquart, Pat Arsenault, Christian DiGangi, Tyler Siwiec, and coxswain Cedric Wysocki represented the Stags.
In the women's club championship 8, Fairfield also had two boats in the race with the first shell completing the run in 13:42.26.

The championship 8 competed Fairfield's stay at the Head of the Schuylkill with the men's team being first in the water. The crew finished 20th overall with its time of 12:23.26 behind the efforts of Connor Carroll, Ean Ray, Ryan Wrynn, Frank DiNatale, Braeden Gibbons, Anthony Tapinis, Samuel Elliott, Zalan Kovacs, and coxswain Madeline Gross.
