PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Fairfield University rowing teams competed at the Navy Day Regatta on Sunday with the Stags placing entries in the several events.
The women's open 4 secured fifth overall in the standings by crossing the finish line in 16:21.6. The Stags were represented by Arianna Welton, Shawn O'Brien, Audrey DiMarino, Catherine Morrissey, and coxswain Lexi Tomlinson.
In the men's varsity 8, Fairfield took 20
th place in the race behind the efforts of
Zalan Kovacs, Sam Elliott,
Anthony Tapinis,
Braeden Gibbons, Grant Retelny,
Ryan Wrynn,
Ean Ray,
Connor Carroll, and coxswain Maddie Gross. The crew completed the race in 14:27.03.
The women's varsity 8 just missed a top 10 finish in its race, finishing 11
th by completing the distance 16:11.8. The boat included Miranda Schmidt, Sarah Wendling, Victoria Conrad, Molly Squire, Emma Szachta, Grace McDonough, Sophia Savage, Zuzanna Janusz, and coxswain Marianna Kalin.
The men's junior varsity 8 also took to the water during the event, posting a time of 14:11.25 which was strong enough for a fifth-place finish. The Stags crew consisted of

Andrew Herman,
Brian Peknic,
Luca Tarricone, and coxswain Skye DeRaffaele.
The junior varsity 8 also secured a top ten finish by completing the distance in 16:57.68 which earned the group in ninth place. The Stags were represented by Cate Quinones, Grace Polatzek, Lauren Hoppe, Julie Pedrazzi, Cackie Martin, Caity Gregitis, Sophia Malina, Megan Rourke, and coxswain Alisa Tsavaris.
The Stags will return to action next Wednesday when they compete at the Head of the Charles.
