Summers Finishes Fourth, Stags Tie for Sixth Place at UConn Invitational

Senior cards a -2 at the 54-hole event

HAMPDEN, Mass. – Colin Summers finished at -2 to place fourth and lead Fairfield University Men's Golf after 54 holes at the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse this week in Hampden, Mass. Summers led the Stags to a tie for sixth place out of 13 teams on the leaderboard.

Summers carded two rounds under par with an opening round 69 and a second-round 70. His 214 for the tournament placed him fourth overall and two strokes off the pace set by individual medalist Peicheng Chen of St. John's.

Rasmus Ditzinger was the second Stag on the leaderboard with a 225, followed by Tadgh Burke at 227, Peter Crowe at 232 and Anthony Naples at 236.

As a team, the Stags were tied for sixth place with Villanova and one stroke behind fifth-place Sacred Heart. Fairfield bested opponents including MAAC foes Merrimack and Siena as well as Holy Cross, Bryant, FDU and Lafayette.

The team title went to Rhode Island, defeating second-place UConn by 10 strokes. The Rams were guided by three of the top 10 finishers, including individual runner-up Tyler Bruneau.

The Stags are back on the links on Oct. 19-20 for 36 holes at the Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa.
