EDISON, N.J. – Fairfield University Women's Basketball freshman Road Runner Meghan Andersen continues to make her name throughout the conference as she swept the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Weekly Awards, being named both the MAAC Player and Rookie of the Week. Andersen was named the conference's Player of the Week for the second time this season while breaking the program's single-season record with her seventh Rookie of the Week accolade.
 
"Meg has continued her dominance game after game and deserves all the recognition and more!" Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "The best things about this week are that there were several great performances around the league by really good players. But with our team taking care of business and coming home with two tough road wins, it elevated Meg's performance even more. Individual success gets further amplified by team success, and this team continues to elevate both individually and collectively!"
 
Andersen averaged a team-best 24.5 points per game while shooting 55 percent from the floor in helping the Stags to a weekend sweep in Western New York and extend the team's winning streak to 10-straight.
 
She broke the program's single-game rookie scoring record by dropping 30 points while shooting 11-for-16 from the field. The Road Runner also showed her shooting range by tying a career-high with five 3-pointers on seven attempts.
 
She would follow that performance with a 19-point showing against Canisius, with 12 coming in the second half. She also grabbed seven rebounds in the gutsy victory against the Griffs.
 
For the year, Andersen leads the MAAC with 18.1 points per game, a number that ranks fifth in the country among first-year players. She also ranks third among all freshmen in the nation with a .554 field goal percentage.
 
Andersen's seven MAAC Rookie of the Week awards is tied for the fourth most in conference history.
 
Andersen and the Stags, who are receiving votes in the most recent AP Top-25 Poll, are back in action on Thursday night when they host Iona at the Leo D. Mahoney Arena at 7pm.
