Will Consoli Named CAA Rookie of the Year, Three Stags Earn All-CAA Honors

Consoli, Bryce Ford and Zack Antoniou all tabbed for the Second Team

RICHMOND, Va. – Will Consoli was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Year to highlight the All-CAA honors collected by Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse on Wednesday afternoon. Consoli, Bryce Ford and Zack Antoniou were all tabbed for the All-CAA Second Team.

Consoli ranked fourth on the Stags and first among Fairfield midfielders with 24 goals and 31 total points. He scored a goal in all 14 games of his freshman campaign, with six multi-goal performances. Consoli scored four goals apiece in the wins over Sacred Heart and Hofstra. Among CAA rookies, Consoli was third overall and first among midfielders in both points and goals. He racked up 13 goals and two assists against conference foes for an average of just over two points per game in CAA action.

Consoli is the fourth CAA Rookie of the Year and ninth conference rookie of the year overall in Fairfield Men's Lacrosse history. He was the lone true freshman in the league to earn All-CAA honors with his Second Team nod.

Bryce Ford was named an All-CAA Second Team performer as an attackman after leading the Stags with 51 points. His 31 goals and 20 assists mark the 15th 50+ point season in Fairfield history and just the sixth 30-goal, 20-assist campaign by a Stag. Ford ranked third in the CAA in assists per game (1.43), fourth in points per game (3.64) and fifth in goals per game (2.21), joining CAA Offensive Player of the Year Tye Kurtz of Delaware as the only players in the top five in all three scoring categories.

Ford completed his third active season (31 games) ranked 17th in career points at Fairfield with 110 and tied for 12th in career assists at 47. He has recorded a point in every game of his collegiate career.

After garnering All-CAA Rookie Team laurels in 2022, Zack Antoniou earns an All-CAA Second Team distinction in 2023. Antoniou led the Stags with 20 caused turnovers, one of five CAA defensemen to reach the 20 CT mark. Fourteen of his caused turnovers came during league play for an average of 2.00 per game against conference foes. Antoniou also picked up 22 ground balls on the year. He appeared in all 14 games with 13 starts, ceding his starting spot on close defense in deference to a senior in the Stags' season finale on Senior Day.

In addition to three All-CAA Second Team selections, Fairfield also landed Consoli and goalkeeper Will Snyder on the CAA All-Rookie Team. Snyder started 11 games in goal as a true freshman, earning wins over Sacred Heart, Hofstra and Monmouth. He posted a .467 save percentage with 127 saves, ranking second in the CAA with 11.55 saves per game.

Excluding the Covid-shortened 2020 season in which no All-CAA honors were awarded, Fairfield Men's Lacrosse has totaled 10 All-CAA distinctions (nine different players) during the last three seasons led by Head Coach Andrew Baxter. The Stags have also nabbed back-to-back CAA Rookies of the Year, with Jack McKenna earning the award in 2022 and Consoli claiming the honor this spring.
