CHERRY HILL, N.J. -- The second varsity 8, the varsity 4, and the lightweight 4 will compete in their respective final on Sunday morning as the Fairfield University men's rowing team competed at the Knecht Cup. The event is taking place on the Cooper River.
The varsity 4 advanced to the Grand Final based on their performance in their heat on Saturday. The Stags finished the course with a time of 6:55.0, less than two seconds off Mercyhurst B's winning time of 6:53.32. The crew will row against Mercyhurst A & B, Drexel, Fordham, and MIT in the Grand Final which begins at 9:30 am. Fairfield was represented by

The second varsity 8 secured a spot in the Petite Final after crossing the finish line in 7:23.20 during the event's first heat. Drexel's A boat won the heat by posting a time of 6:12.23 followed by Trinty (6:16.91) and Michigan (6:18.06). The Stags are slated to start the Petite Final on Sunday at 11:14 am. The varsity 8 took to the water for two races this morning, finishing fourth in its heat by covering the distance in 6:42.78 and garnering a fifth-place run in its semifinal race with a time of 6:36.04. MIT won the heat in which Fairfield was paired (6:06.83) and came back to win the semifinal as well (5:44.79). The results did not send the varsity 8 into Sunday's competition.
