The Stags will look to bounce back after losing a fourth quarter lead in their last game against MAAC-leading Iona. Fairfield led for 27 of the possible 30 minutes heading into the fourth quarter where they also enjoyed their largest lead of the game at 10 points with nine minutes remaining.
However, the Gaels would rally and out-score the Stags 27-6 in the fourth which was highlighted by a 14-0 run. Fairfield led by six after a
Callie Cavanaugh lay-up with five minutes left but would commit 11 turnovers in those final minutes.
Fairfield had three double-digit scorers led by Cavanaugh's 14. She is now 13 points shy of becoming the 33rd player in program history to net 1,000 career points as a Stag. Cavanaugh reached the 1,000 career scoring mark earlier in the year against Manhattan which included the 161 points scored in her freshman year at Florida International.
Mimi Rubino also reached double figures for the fourth-straight game with all of those performances coming off the bench. In her 12 games off the bench, Rubino is averaging 9.0 points in 25.1 minutes per game while shooting 42 percent from the floor. In her eight starts, Rubino was netting 6.5 points in 27.1 minutes while hitting 28 percent of her shots.
Kate Peek was the other Stag in double figures as she recorded a career-high 12 points while going 4-for-9 from 3-point range. Over her last five games, Peek is averaging 7.8 points and 2.6 3-pointers while shooting 44 percent from long range.
Mackenzie Daleba cracked the starting lineup for the first time in her career at Iona. It marks the sixth different starting lineup the Stags have used in the last nine games. Four student-athletes received their first career start in that span.
Quinnipiac enters the game with an 11-3 conference record, placing them second in the MAAC. The Bobcats, who have won seven-straight games, have three players averaging double figures in scoring led by Cur'Tiera Haywood at 11.1.
