Stags Set for Pair of Games in First-Ever Trip to the State of Tennessee

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will embark on their longest road trip in three years as they open up a five-game road swing against Lipscomb on Friday at noon. It will be the first of a pair of contests for the Stags this weekend as the program competes for the first time in the state of Tennessee.

The Stags are coming off a dominant performance in their home opener as they defeated Division III Lehman by the largest margin of victory in program history. Fairfield reached the triple digit marker for the sixth time in program history and the first time since 1999. Fairfield's defense was also just as successful allowing just 14 points, the lowest by an opponent in program history.

Fairfield's defense allowed just three made field goals, all coming in the final 11 minutes of the contest. The Stags netted the first 29 points of the game and opened up a 50-1 run in the first half.

In their collegiate debuts, all four of Fairfield's freshmen tallied double-figures combining for 57 points. Meghan Andersen led the way with 19 points, the most by a Stag in their collegiate debut since M. Loretta Goerke tallied 24 at Yale to open up the 1979-80 campaign.

Another student-athlete making their collegiate debut reached an historic milestone as graduate transfer Nicole Gallagher netted her 1,000th career point with a three-pointer to open up the second quarter. Gallagher came to Fairfield after appearing in 106 games and netting 995 points in her four-year career at Bryant.

The trip to Tennessee will be the first in program history for the women's basketball program as they cross off the 31st state off their list.

Lipscomb is also coming off a victory in their season opener, defeating Evansville 77-58. The Bisons had three players on the Preseason All-ASUN team with Bella Vinson, Jalyn Holcomb, and Aleah Sorrentino all receiving the honors. Sorrentino was the team's leading scorer in the opener, netting 25 points.

Fairfield will close out their stay in the Volunteer State with a matchup against Vanderbilt on Sunday at 2pm.
