Five Stags Named To NFHCA All-Region Team

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Five Fairfield University field hockey student-athletes earned accolades from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as the organization announced its annual All-Region teams. Junior midfielder Agustina Casteluchi and freshman forward Lucie Vincent collected first team honors while junior defender Madison Milhous, junior goalkeeper Payton Rahn, and sophomore forward Alex Senior captured second team laurels.

Casteluchi gained notice for her play on both sides of the pitch, appearing in all 18 matches during the 2023 season. She ranked among the team's top scorers with three goals and three assists for nine points. One of her three goals came off a penalty stroke, the only one tallied by the team this season. She capped her season by receiving the Northeast Conference (NEC) Midfielder of the Year award as well as a spot on the All-NEC first team.

Vincent, the NEC Offensive Player of the Year, led the conference in three of the four scoring categories during the regular season. She set the pace with 13 goals and 30 points in addition to posting five game-winning goals, all of which represent conference highs. She tallied points in 10 of her 18 appearances and finished the regular-season with 15 points over the final four games (seven goals, one assist). Vincent was also an All-NEC first team player in 2023.

Milhous was part of one of the best back lines in the NEC, a unit that allowed just 8.2 shots per game during the regular season (139 shots taken). She was instrumental in the Stags defensive effort that resulted in five shutouts and 14 matches of allowing one goal or less. Her play and experience often disrupted the opposition which led her to an All-NEC first team berth.

Rahn was named the NEC goalkeeper of the year after capturing a pair of NEC defensive player of the week honors. She registered five clean sheets on the season including back-to-back matches against LIU and Merrimack. The All-NEC first team selection also finished the season ranked ninth in the nation with a 1.12 goals against average and tied for 12th in save percentage at .768.

Senior comes off a successful sophomore season that saw her place second among her teammates with eight goals and 18 points. She also rates second on the team with three game-winning goals. She finished the season tied for fourth in the NEC for goals scored and garnered the sixth position with her 18 points.

The Fairfield University field hockey team, under Head Coach Jackie Kane, finished the 2023 campaign with a 14-4 overall record and a 7-0 NEC slate. The Stags captured the 2023 conference regular-season title and reached the semifinal round of the 2023 NEC Championship.
