Hofmann, Fogelson Collect NEC Weekly Field Hockey Honors

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Senior Konni Hofmann and freshman Kaelyn Fogelson collected NEC Field Hockey weekly honors for their performances in a pair of games last week. Hofmann earned the NEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week while Fogelson garnered the NEC Rookie of the Week. The Fairfield University field hockey team split a pair of games last weekend, edging LIU before coming up short against UConn.

Hofmann scored in both games last weekend as the Stags split the pair against LIU and UConn. She opened the weekend with a pair of goals in the Stags' 5-2 win over LIU, keeping Fairfield unbeaten in NEC play. She followed up with a goal in a 3-2 loss to UConn, scoring the team's final goal. With her weekend performance, Hofmann took over the team lead in scoring with 11 goals and four assists for 26 points. All 11 of her goals have come over the last nine games and has a goal in each of her last three appearances.

Fogelson picked up a goal in a pair of games last weekend as the Stags split with LIU and UConn. In the team's win over LIU, she scored one of the team's two third-quarter goals that put the Stags in front by a 3-1 score. Against UConn, the freshman posted Fairfield's first goal that cut into a 2-0 deficit in the fourth quarter. She raised her scoring totals to seven goals plus three assists for 17 points.

The Fairfield University field hockey team, under Head Coach Laura Gebhart, will play its final regular-season game on Friday, October 31 when Saint Francis University comes to campus. The two teams are slated for a 3 pm start. The Stags have already clinched a spot in the NEC Championship which will be hosted by Fairfield University. The semifinals will take place on November 6 with the semifinal winners advancing to the championship game on November 8.
