EDISON, N.J­. – After a successful 2-0 week, the Fairfield University Women's Basketball team swept the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Weekly Awards with Janelle Brown taking home the MAAC Player of the Week honor and Meghan Andersen being named the conference's Rookie of the Week for the second-straight week. Through five games, the duo has helped the Stags record a league-best four victories.
 
"We are so excited for Nellie to be honored for the first time this season, and Meg to get her second Rookie of the Week award!" Head Coach Carly Thibault-Dudonis said. "What makes this team special is that we have so many talented student-athletes who, on any given day, can step up and perform at a really high level. For these two to have performances that stood out amongst their amazing teammates, plus the other super talented players in the league, says a lot about them and their ability to impact the game."
 
Brown was named the MAAC Player of the Week for the first time in her career after tying for the team-high in points in both of the Stags' wins during the week. In the victory over Rutgers, she netted 14 points to go along with six rebounds and six assists, in helping the Stags record the first MAAC road win over a Big Ten squad in nearly 30 years. She built on that performance by netting 22 points in just 19 minutes against Central Connecticut State while missing just one shot on the afternoon (7-for-8 from the field and 7-for-7 from the free throw line).
 
In total, Brown shot an amazing 81 percent from the floor (13-for-16) while averaging 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists during the week.
 
Andersen earned MAAC Rookie of the Week accolades for the second-straight week after tying Brown for a team-high 22 points against the Blue Devils on Sunday. She also recorded her first career double-double by grabbing a career-high 12 rebounds. In total, Andersen shot 55 percent from the floor while averaging 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 blocks during the week.
 
For the season, she leads the team with a 17.2 points per game scoring average, which ranks seventh in the country among first-year players.
 
Brown, Andersen, and the rest of the Stags are back in action when they close out a six-game road trip, travelling to crosstown rivals Sacred Heart on Wednesday at 7pm.
