FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Baseball student-athletes:
Michael Sansone,
Colin McVeigh, and
Evan Berta have been selected to the All-Star teams of their respective summer league this season. Sansone earns his second-straight All-Star honor from the prestigious Cape Cod Summer League while McVeigh was named to the NECBL All-Star squad and Berta representing the best from the PGCBL.

Sansone was named to the prestigious Cape Cod Summer League All-Star team for the second-straight season. The southpaw has suited up for the Wareham Gateman for six starts and 29.2 innings. He has struck out a team-high 34 batters while issuing just one walk and recording a 3.96 ERA.
"Being selected is an honor," Sansone said. "To do this in back-to-back years is something I never would have expected."
The All-Star Game will be held July 23rd at Spillane Field in Wareham, Mass., and will be live-broadcasted on WCAI and the Cape and Islands NPR stations. It can also be seen the following day, July 24th, on NESN at 9pm.
McVeigh was the Coach's Choice to represent the South Division in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) All-Star Game. The right-hander has been the Bristol Blues' most dominant pitcher with an unblemished 3-0 record and a team-best 0.68 ERA. He has also racked up 30 strikeouts in 26.1 innings while allowing just two runs.
The 2022 NECBL All-Star Game is set for July 24 at The Shark Tank, hosted by the Martha's Vineyard Sharks with first pitch at 4:30pm.
Berta was chosen out of the East Division of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) after leading the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs with a .349 average, tied for sixth in the league. He is also the team leader in: hits (38), runs scored (30), and stolen bases (12).
The trio helped the Stags to their second-straight MAAC Regular Season Championship in the spring with a 31-win campaign.
