LATHAM, N.Y. – Fairfield University women's tennis captured two of the top three singles contests Friday, but the late-night contest went the way of the home side, as the Stags fell, 5-2.
"Tough loss tonight, if a couple of those points go our way we walk away with a win," said Head Coach Jeff Bricker. "We have everything in front of us and we look ahead to Marist."
Fairfield picked up a win at No. 2 doubles by way of Amanda Nowak and Katarina Plumtree, who took the match 6-3. Siena would need tiebreakers to capture both the No. 3 and No. 1 contests, 7-5 and take the doubles point.
In singles, Sandra Bozinovic shutout her opponent in set one, on the way to a straight set victory in the top flight, 6-0, 6-4 for her team leading 17th solo win of the season. The other win for the Stags came at No. 3 singles where Paulina Bakaite gave up just three games throughout, winning in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
Fairfield women's tennis is back in action Monday when they return to upstate New York to take on Marist. First serve between the Stags and the Red Foxes is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
