RICHMOND, Va. – After leading Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse on opposite ends of the field in a 2-0 week,
James Corasaniti and
Jack McKenna have earned weekly recognition from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). Corasaniti was tabbed as CAA co-Player of the Week for the first time is his career, while McKenna collected his third CAA Rookie of the Week distinction of the 2022 campaign.
Â
Fairfield improved to 5-3 overall the week following a Monday road win at Binghamton and a Saturday afternoon home triumph over Providence. Corasaniti starred in the cage in both efforts, making 21 stops against the Bearcats and 23 against Friars for a .667 save percentage. He is the only goalkeeper in nation to make 20+ saves and earn the win in two separate games this season.
Â
On the year, Corasaniti has made six appearances and three starts in the cage. He owns a .633 save percentage and an 11.20 goals-against average. The senior netminder has made double-digit saves in all four appearances in which he was the goalie of record en route to a 4-0 mark. Corasaniti's 251 minutes of work do not yet qualify him for the NCAA leaderboard, but his .633 save percentage ranks as the best on the CAA ledger.
Â
McKenna tallied a team-leading eight goals and dished out an assist this past week. He set a new career high with six points – five goals and one helper – at Binghamton then netted his fifth hat trick of the spring on Saturday at Rafferty Stadium.
Â
Thus far in his rookie campaign, McKenna has scored 25 goals with three assists. He ranks second on the Stags (behind
Taylor Strough) with and third in the CAA with 3.12 goals per game and slots fourth in the conference with 3.50 points per outing. On the national ledger, McKenna ranks 21st overall and second among all Division I freshmen in goals per contest.
Â
Up next, the Stags will welcome their second straight Big East foe to Rafferty Stadium with a Tuesday visit from St. John's. Opening faceoff in the Stags' non-conference finale is slated for 7 p.m.
