DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – Colin Summers carded a 73 on both days of the SHU Spring Break Invitational at LPGA International, finishing tied for 4th place amongst a 52-golfer field to lead Fairfield University men's golf in their first action of the spring.
Overall, the Stags finished sixth amongst the nine schools in the field, shooting a combined 310 in the final round, the fifth best score of the day. A handful of spots behind Summers was Patrick McCarthy who led a trio of Fairfield players who competed in the tournament as individuals, finishing tied for 23rd in the field.
Shane DeVincenzo finished just behind Summers on the leaderboard in a seven-way tie for 26nd place, followed by Jason Salameno who ended the weekend tied for 36th in the field. Patrick Ryan and Killian McGinley finished with the next best scores on the Fairfield team card tied for 41st, followed by James Tyer and Zachary Maloy who were the other two Stags competing as individuals, with the pair finishing tied for 43rd in the field alongside Manhattan's Colby Norton.
Fairfield men's golf is back in action in two weeks when they compete in the Battle at Rum Pointe Mar. 26-27 at the Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links in Berlin, MD.
