FLUSHING, N.Y. – A hard fought battle in the Big Apple went the way of the home side, as Fairfield University dropped a 6-1 decision to St. John's Friday afternoon in Queens.

We put up a strong fight throughout the day, but St. John's was a very good team today, said Head Coach Jeff Bricker. "Looking forward to getting down to South Carolina and playing some outdoor tennis!"

Sandra Bozinovic earned the win by retirement at No. 1 singles, after taking the opening set of that contest, 7-5. The Red Storm would claim a pair of wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles to take the point on the day before taking five of the six singles contests.

Fairfield women's tennis will look to bounce back Sunday when they take on the College of Charleston in the first of three matches in South Carolina for the Stags over spring break. First serve between the Stags and the Cougars is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
