FAIRFIELD, Conn., - Fairfield University Women's Basketball senior
Lou Lopez-Senechal was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team announced this afternoon. The native of Grenoble, France has not only found success on the court with a MAAC leading 19.7 points per game average but also in the classroom supporting a 3.39 GPA as a marketing major.
"Being named CoSIDA Academic First Team is quite an honor," Head Coach
Joe Frager said. "We are very proud of Lou. She works hard on the court and in the classroom. Essentially, English is her third language after Spanish and French so this honor is special."
On the court, Lopez-Senechal has become arguably the best player in the MAAC as she leads the league with 19.2 points per game, a number that is in the top-25 nationally. She also places in the top-5 in field goal percentage (.451), 3-point percentage (.391), and free throw percentage (.793).
For her career, Lopez-Senechal has netted 1,434 points the 13th most by any Stag. She is the program's leader in free throw percentage at .833 and places second in 3-point shooting percentage at .386.
Off the court, the two-time MAAC Preseason Player of the Year has maintained a 3.39 GPA as a marketing major. A speaker of three languages, she will graduate in May with a marketing degree.
She has helped the Stags to their best conference record in 30 years with a 15-1 MAAC mark. The Stags clinched at least a share of the MAAC Regular Season Title after their victory over Quinninpiac, the team's eighth-straight win.
She will advance to the All-American ballot which will be announced in mid-March.
