Nicoletti-Leite Named MAAC Player of the Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Basketball's Izabela Nicoletti-Leite has earned the first weekly award of her career as the redshirt junior was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Nicoletti-Leite notched 20 or more points in both games for the Stags this week while shooting 60 percent from 3-point range.

"We are so proud of Iza for earning MAAC Player of the Week!" Head Coach Carly Thibault-Dudonis said. "Since she arrived in Fairfield this summer, she has consistently been in the gym working on her game and you love to see her hard work paying off. I'm sure this is the first of many honors for her over the next few seasons!"

Nicoletti-Leite averaged 20.5 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals while shooting 60 percent (9-for-15) from long-range. She helped the Stags to a road win at Dayton by notching 21 points and dishing out five assists while connecting on four of her six shot attempts from deep.

She highlighted her week with her first career double-double with 21 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.

Nicoletti-Leite has now reached 20 or more points in four-straight games. For the season, she leads the MAAC and ranks 18th nationally shooting 50 percent from 3-point range. She ended the non-conference slate with the second most made 3-pointers in the conference with 2.9 a game, ranking in the top-30 nationally.

Nicoletti-Leite and the Stags will turn their attention to conference play when they travel to Saint Peter's to meet the Peacocks on Saturday at 2pm.
