FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Basketball Head Coach
Carly Thibault-DuDonis announced her first full recruiting class as the head coach of the Stags. Meghan Anderson, Karly Fischer, and Katelyn L'Amoreaux will comprise the Class of 2023 and all bring various skill sets and talent to the program.
"We are truly thrilled about our 2023 signing class, our first as a staff here at Fairfield," Coach Thibault-DuDonis said. "Not only did we add some talented basketball players who will help us on the court, they are also phenomenal young women who will represent Fairfield University and our program in the best way."
Meghan Andersen | 6-1 | Forward | Our Lady of Mercy Academy | AAU: Long Island Lightning
Andersen averaged 19 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.4 blocks, and 3.0 steals in helping Our Lady of Mercy Academy to the CHSAA Championship last season. The post-player also showed her versatility by shooting 43 percent from 3-point range. The Catholic League Player of the Year was also selected to the First Team All-Long Island squad by Newsday and earned three All-Conference selections. She was also a Third Team All-State selection following her junior season.
Thibault-DuDonis on Andersen: "Meg is someone that Stag fans are going to love! She's the type of forward we were looking for, with the ability to spread the floor and defend multiple positions. As we got to know her, we knew that she would fit right in with our current team and embodies the values of our program. We are excited for the impact she will make on the court and in the community."
Karly Fischer | 6-2 | Forward | Albertus Magnus High School | AAU: Empire State Blue Flames
Fischer was an Honorable Mention All-State selection by the New York State Sportswriter Association after averaging a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds a game during her junior season. The 6-2 forward was also ranked a No. 13 prospect in NY Prep Girls Hoop and was an All-Conference selection during her stay. She also competed in the Junior NBA Global Championship, representing the Northeast Region. She will enroll in the Dolan School of Business as a business major at Fairfield.
Thibault-DuDonis on Fischer: "We are really excited to add Karly to our Stags family! She was someone we immediately identified as an impact player and fits the style of play that we are trying to implement going forward. She is a versatile, mobile, and skilled post player. She has an infectious personality and we knew she was the type of person we wanted to have in our program. She was a highly sought-after prospect that saw the vision of our program and we are so happy she will be joining us next season."
Kaetlyn L'Amoreaux | 5-6 | Guard | Maine Endwell High School | AAU: Hoopers NY Melious
The 2022 BCANY Class A Player of the Year, L'Amoreaux is also a four-time All-Conference and All-Section honoree. A pure scorer, L'Amoreaux reached the 1,000-point milestone in her junior season after pouring in a career-high and program single-game record 45 points against Vestal. She also netted 40 points in the Class A State Tournament Opening Round against Wallkill. Her success started in her freshman season where she averaged 19 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists for Maine Endwell. In the AAU circuit, she averaged 14.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 5.1 assists in 83 games for Hoopers NY. A three-sport athlete, she was also a four-time All-Conference pick in soccer and an All-State Fourth Team selection in softball. L'Amoreaux will be a double major at Fairfield, studying Business and Psychology.
Thibault-DuDonis on L'Amoreaux: "I've found that the most successful point guards are ones who are able to keep their team running smoothly, are relentless on defense, and have the ability to shoot the ball. Kaety checks all of those boxes and more. With a strong stable of guards already, Kaety adds a new element to that unit and will provide us even more flexibility and depth on the perimeter. From the first moment she stepped on campus, it was clear that this was a perfect match for everybody."
The three members will comprise the Fairfield Women's Basketball Class of 2023 and represent the first full recruiting class under Head Coach Thibault-DuDonis. The first-year head coach brings experience as a tireless recruiter and was responsible for signing four recruiting classes that were ranked in the top-20 nationally. In her final season as an Associate Head Coach and recruiting coordinator for Minnesota, she signed the first two five-star recruits in program history.
