FAIRFIELD, Conn. --
Cormac Pike and
Thomas Drillien earned a berth to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team for their performance on the pitch and in the classroom. The duo were instrumental in the Fairfield University men's soccer team's success this season which culminated with a berth to the 2022 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) postseason tournament.
Pike served as one of the team's top defenders throughout the season, seeing action in 13 of the team's 19 games played this season. He contributed to Fairfield's success defensively and also added support up front as well. He helped the Stags post six shutouts during the regular season as the team allowed one goal or less in 11 of their 19 matches in 2022. Offensively, Pike picked up a pair of assists this season with each assist setting up the deciding goal. He posted points in four of his five seasons with the program, highlighted by his seven points in 2018 (two goals, three assists).
Drillien had another impactful season inside the box, sporting two goals for four points in his 15 appearances this year. He picked up one goal in non-conference pay and another one in MAAC action. His first goal helped Fairfield post a 3-1 win over Princeton University at home while his second goal came in a 3-2 setback against Quinnipaic University. The forward has scored goals in each season with the program, finishing the 2022 season with two goals in 15 games. Drillien is responsible for 11 goals during his career and has ranked among the team leaders for scoring each season.
