Brian Fay Promoted to Baseball Associate Head Coach

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Baseball program has announced the promotion of Brian Fay as the Associate Head Coach of the Stags. Fay will begin his fifth season with the Stags and has helped the team to 107 wins during his time.

"Coach Fay has become an integral part of our success here at Fairfield," Head Coach Bill Currier said. "He has assuming the recruiting coordinator role for three seasons and has done an excellent job furthering our success to compete for the MAAC Championship each year. Brian studies the details of the game and applies his ideas and knowledge gained to our players to understand better than any other young coach."

The Stags have won 64 percent of their games in the last four seasons with Fay on the coaching staff, including three 30-win seasons. Included in that success is back-to-back Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Regular Season championships.

Fairfield has set the program's single season wins record twice in the last four years, highlighted by a 39-win output in 2021 which helped the Stags to the program's first-ever At-Large bid into the NCAA Regionals.

Fay has also helped mentor 21 All-MAAC players in his four seasons, including back-to-back MAAC Players of the Year in Jack Gethings (2019) and Mike Caruso (2021).

Individually, the Stags have set or tied numerous single season program records. Gethings became the program's all-time hits leader after tallying 88 base hits in 2019. Sluggers Justin Guerrera and Charlie Pagliarini also tied the program's single season home runs record by connecting on 13 long balls in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

With Fay helping the offense, the Stags have hit .282 as a team in the last four years while obliterating the program's single season home run record by launching 75 long balls in 2022, besting the previous record by 31.

The 2023 Stags will look to keep the program's momentum that has featured two-straight MAAC Regular Season titles with their campaign beginning in February.
