Stags Welcome Manhattan to Tip-Off Fairfield Basketball Doubleheader

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will put their perfect 6-0 MAAC record on the line when they welcome the Manhattan Jaspers to Webster Bank Arena on Thursday at 5pm. The contest will tip-off a Fairfield basketball doubleheader as the men's squad faces Monmouth at 7:30.

The Stags are off to one of their best conference starts in program history, reaching the 6-0 mark for just the third time. Fairfield also started the MAAC slate at 6-0 during the 2000-01 season and the 2019-20 campaign. The Stags' best start came during the 2000-01 season when they won their first eight MAAC games.

Fairfield was able to improve their record to 6-0 following a sweep in Western New York, defeating both Niagara and Canisius. The Stags were on fire offensively, averaging 77.0 points during the weekend while shooting 53 percent from the floor.

Lou Lopez-Senechal notched 20 or more points in both games on the trip, the fifth-straight game she has reached the 20-point mark. Andrea Hernangomez had one of the best offensive games of her career, recording a career-high 20 points while shooting 10-for-13 from the field in the win at Canisius. Hernangomez also brought down 12 rebounds to complete her third double-double of the season.

With their impressive streak, the Stags have found themselves ranked in the most recent CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 poll. Fairfield was slotted No. 24 in the poll, the only team in the MAAC to receive votes.

Manhattan enters play second in the MAAC with a 4-2 record, most recently coming off a loss to Siena. Dee Dee Davis leads the team with a 16.3 points per game scoring average. Coutrney Warley is one of the top post players in the MAAC and leads the league with 10.5 rebounds.

Fairfield will hit the road for a quick three game road trip, starting with a contest at Siena on Saturday at 2pm.
