Zoe Rosen Collects NEC Defensive Player Of The Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- For the second consecutive week, Fairfield University goalkeeper Zoe Rosen collected the Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week award after leading the Stags to a 1-1 week. The graduate student earned a shutout in the team's win over Quinnipiac University and kicked away eight shots in a 1-0 double-overtime loss to Temple University.

Rosen opened the week with a strong performance on the road as she did not allow a goal against Quinnipiac, facing six shots to earn her first clean sheet of the season and the 10th shutout of her career. She followed up with another solid performance two days later when Temple took 18 shots of which nine were on target. Rosen was able to keep the visiting team off the scoreboard until the final minute of the second overtime period, the fourth time that she has allowed one goal or less in the Stags' last five dates.

She remains one of the nation's leaders in saves per game, coming into this week's action with 42 saves in six games. Her 6.0 saves per game average places her among the top 20 in that category. Rosen also displays an .842 save percentage which also ranks her among the nation's elite goalkeepers.

The Fairfield University field hockey team, under the guidance of Head Coach Jackie Kane, will play one game this week as the Stags will host Columbia University on Friday, September 17. The game will be played at University Field beginning at 4 pm.
