FAIRFIELD, Conn. – With students moving on to campus in just over a week, the Fairfield University Women's Basketball team has introduced their four new additions to the program. Freshmen
Anna Eng,
Lauren Beach, and
Brooke Tatarian comprise the Class of 2025 while Boston College graduate transfer
Sydney Lowery will bring the experience to the squad for the upcoming season.
"We are looking forward to the contributions of these four women to our program," Head Coach
Joe Frager said. "Unlike the previous summer, we were able to work with them during this summer session. This group brought tremendous energy to our workouts and were a coachable group."
Anna Eng – Guard
The all-time leading scorer for Croton-Harmon High School, Eng also averaged 19.3 points during her junior season as the team's point guard. With her success, she was a three-time All-League and All-Section honoree and allso earned an All-State selection.
FRAGER ON ENG: Anna is physically strong and has range on her three-point shot and brings strong offensive skills. She is capable of playing the 1 or the 2.
Lauren Beach - Guard
Beach was named the Tri-Valley League MVP and a three-time All-Star for Medway High School, helping them to a 21-win season and their first Sectional Title since 1994. She was named a MetroWest Player of the Year Finalist after receiving two MetroWest All-Star honors. One of the top student-athletes in the area, she also found success in the classroom, being selected to the Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic teams. At Medway, she was a three sport athlete while also playing soccer and earning All-League recognition in lacrosse.
FRAGER ON BEACH: Lauren has a good feel for the game and adds versatility to our team. She can play as a wing or as a stretch 4.
Brooke Tatarian – Guard
A four-time MVP at the Masters School, Tatarian led the Panthers to a NY state championship and three consecutive state final appearances. She netted 1,645 points in three seasons while averaging 22 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists in her final season. During that span, she recorded 14 double-doubles in 22 games, including eight-straight and was named the Masters School Athlete of the Year.
FRAGER ON TATARIAN: Brooke brings excellent energy and moves well without the ball. She will play as a wing and provides another perimeter threat.
Sydney Lowery – Guard
Lowery made 77 appearances with 17 starts for the Boston College Eagles in the ACC and averaged 5.0 points and 2.4 rebounds in 19.1 minutes with 48 steals in her career. She netted a career-high 19 points at Minnesota in 2017 and grabbed a personal best seven rebounds against Duke in 2019. Back in high school, she was the all-time scoring leader in St. Luke's High School with 2,065 points and was a McDonald's All-American Nominee.
FRAGER ON LOWERY: Sydney made an immediate impact this summer with her energy and leadership skills. She has a great work ethic, is strong and physical, and will make an impact both offensively and defensively.
The four new members will join a Fairfield squad that went 11-5 in the MAAC last season and advanced to the MAAC Semifinals. In the 14 seasons under
Joe Frager, the Stags have posted 13 winning seasons in the conference and a top-three finish in nine seasons.
