EDISON, N.J. – Twenty-one members of the Fairfield University Baseball team were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic team as the group maintained a grade point average of 3.20. The group, consisting of

Mike Marella,

Charlie Pagliarini,
Dan Ryan,
Michael Sansone,
John Signore,
Ryan Strollo,
Walker Sutman,
Matt Venuto,
Griffin Watson, and
Nick Weyant, enjoyed success both on the field and in the classroom.
"The coaching staff is very proud of the excellent work our players have done both on the field and with their academic classes the entire year," Head Coach
Bill Currier said. "The constant change they have dealt with all year has been dramatic and tested their grit and adaptation to being successful as a Division I student-athlete."
The group of twenty-one members consists of five seniors and four graduate students. Seventeen players in the group are part of Fairfield's renowned Dolan School of Business with two others working towards a degree in communications and
Mike Caruso earning a degree in Public Health in the nursing school.
Jason Hebner was one of four double majors in the group, and earned the highest GPA in the entire philosophy department, being honored with the Carl J. Levantino Award for Excellence in the Study of Philosophy.
The Stags are trying to continue the best season in school history as they host the MAAC Championship Quarterfinals at Alumni Diamond this week. Fairfield is riding a 33-1 record, holding the highest regular season winning percentage in NCAA Division I history. Top-seeded Fairfield will open a best-of-three series with eighth-seeded Manhattan on Thursday at 11am.
